The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And raised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
