Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 In an elevated garden, 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 And not known my account! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
