The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
