He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 to him thou attendest 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he fears, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 How We pour water in showers 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
