The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 and the night that falls, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
