The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
