The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. These are the verses of the Book and the glorious Quran. 1 Soon will the time come when the unbelievers will wish they were Muslims. 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy, and let them be preoccupied with (false) hope. They will come to know! 3 Never did We destroy a population that had not a term decreed and assigned beforehand. 4 No community precedeth the term thereof nor doth it fall behind. 5 They say: "O you to whom the Admonition has been revealed, you are surely crazed. 6 Why bringest thou not angels unto us if thou art of the truthtellers! 7 But We send down the angels only to bring justice and then they will not be reprieved. 8 Lo! We, even We, reveal the Reminder, and lo! We verily are its Guardian. 9 We sent messengers before you to the previous peoples, 10 And there never came an apostle to them but they mocked him. 11 Even so We make a way for it (that is, the Admonition) in the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod); 12 That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away. 13 and even if We opened to them a door from heaven, and they began ascending through it, 14 they would surely have said, "It is only our eyes that are spellbound! Nay, we have been bewitched! 15
