۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 on couches facing each other. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
