Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Mim 1 By oath of the clear Qur’an. 2 We have indeed sent it as a Qur’an in the Arabic language, so that you may understand. 3 And verily it is, in the Original Book before Us, indeed exalted. 4 Shall We then take away from you the admonition because ye are a people extravagant? 5 How many Messengers did We send to the ancient people? 6 And whenever any Prophet came to them, they only mocked at him. 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” 9 He who appointed the earth to be a cradle for you, and appointed ways for you therein, that haply you may be guided; 10 And Who sendeth down water from the sky in (due) measure, and We revive a dead land therewith. Even so will ye be brought forth; 11 And the One Who created all pairs, and made the ships and cattle as rides for you. 12 In order that ye may sit firm and square on their backs, and when so seated, ye may celebrate the (kind) favour of your Lord, and say, "Glory to Him Who has subjected these to our (use), for we could never have accomplished this (by ourselves), 13 And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return! 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
