Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Or, has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Musa? 36 And Abraham who paid his debt: 37 That no soul laden bears the load of another, 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 and that the final end is with your Lord, 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 And He who ordains death and life; 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 and that He will bring about the Second Creation; 47 and that it is He who gives wealth and riches, 48 And that He is the Lord of the Sirius; 49 And that He did destroy the Ad of old 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 And the subverted cities He overthrew. 53 So there covered them that which covered. 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The approaching event has come near. 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 At this discourse then marvel ye? 59 And laugh and not weep, 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
