The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 when their brother Hud said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 fear Him who has aided you with all that you know -- 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
