Seest thou not those that dispute concerning the Signs of Allah? How are they turned away (from Reality)?- 69 Those who belie the Book and that with which We sent Our Messengers shall soon know. 70 When the fetters and chains are on their necks, and they dragged 71 Through boiling waters; then they are thrust into the Fire. 72 And then they will be asked: "Where now are those [powers] to which you were wont to ascribe divinity 73 Apart from God?" They will answer: "They have left us in the lurch and fled. In fact it was nothing that we prayed to before." That is how God sends the unbelievers astray. 74 That is because ye had been exulting in the earth without right, and because ye had been strutting. 75 So enter the gates of Hell to abide in it for ever." How evil the abode of the arrogant! 76 So persevere in patience; for the Promise of Allah is true: and whether We show thee (in this life) some part of what We promise them,- or We take thy soul (to Our Mercy) (before that),-(in any case) it is to Us that they shall (all) return. 77 Indeed We sent many Messengers before you: of them there are some whose account We have narrated to you and there are others whose account We have not narrated to you. It did not lie in any Messenger's power to bring any Sign except with Allah's leave. So when Allah's decree came, the matter was decided with justice, and those steeped in error courted utter loss, then and there. 78
