The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 who taught the Quran -- 2 Created man, 3 and He has taught him the Explanation. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 He raised the heavens and set up the measure, 7 In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 8 Therefore, maintain just measure and do not transgress against the Balance. 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 and a variety of corn with both husk and grain. 12 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord, will ye twain belie? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire. 15 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 There is a barrier between them. They encroach not (one upon the other). 20 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 His are the high-sailed vessels in deep ocean like the mountains. 24 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 25

(1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
