The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
