He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 to him thou attendest 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
