The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
