A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 A Book revealed to you-- so let there be no straitness in your breast on account of it-- that you may warn thereby, and a reminder close to the believers. 2 (People), follow whatever is revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other guardians besides Him. However, you pay very little attention (to Our words) 3 How many a township have We destroyed! As a raid by night, or while they slept at noon, Our terror came unto them. 4 Therefore they uttered nothing when Our punishment came to them, except that they said, “Indeed we were the unjust.” 5 Thus, [on Judgment Day] We shall most certainly call to account all those unto whom a [divine] message was sent, and We shall most certainly call to account the message-bearers [themselves]; 6 And verily, We shall recount their whole story with knowledge, for We were never absent (at any time or place). 7 And the weighing on that day (Day of Resurrection) will be the true (weighing). So as for those whose scale (of good deeds) will be heavy, they will be the successful (by entering Paradise). 8 Those whose scale will be light, will be their souls in perdition, for that they wrongfully treated Our signs. 9 We have established you in the earth and there appointed for you livelihood; little thanks you show. 10
