The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an. 1 A time will surely come when those who are bent on denying the truth will wish that they had surrendered themselves to God, 2 Let them eat and enjoy life, and let (false) hope beguile them. They will come to know! 3 Not one habitation have We destroyed but at the time determined for it. 4 No community precedeth the term thereof nor doth it fall behind. 5 And they say: O you to whom the Reminder has been revealed! you are most surely insane: 6 Why do you not bring to us the angels if you are of the truthful ones? 7 But We send down the angels only to bring justice and then they will not be reprieved. 8 then they would not be respited. It is We who have sent down the Remembrance, and We watch over it. 9 We verily sent (messengers) before thee among the factions of the men of old. 10 And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him. 11 Even so We make a way for it (that is, the Admonition) in the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod); 12 They do not believe in it, and indeed the example of the former people has already passed. 13 Had We opened a door for them in the sky through which they could easily pass, 14 They will say all the same: "Our eyes were dazed (and clouded over). We were a people ensorcelled." 15
