The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount; 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 On an open record. 3 And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels); 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
