The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And your garments purify! 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then looked he, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
