The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
