The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 who belied and turned away, 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
