Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HaMeem. 1 This is a revelation from the Compassionate, the Merciful. 2 a Book whose verses have been well-expounded; an Arabic Qur'an for those who have knowledge, 3 It contains glad news and warnings (for the people), but most of them have ignored it and do not listen. 4 And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)." 5 (Muhammad), say, "I am a mere mortal like you. I have received a revelation that your Lord is the only One. So be up-right and obedient to Him and seek forgiveness from Him. Woe to the pagans, 6 who do not pay the zakat, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 The righteously striving believers will have a never-ending reward". 8
