The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Terror descends 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
