Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 You and your fathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
