Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 And by the winds that blow violently, 2 and the rain-spreading winds, 3 thus separating [right and wrong] with all clarity, 4 And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers, 5 To excuse or to warn, 6 Surely what you are promised shall come to pass. 7 So when the lights of the stars are put out. 8 And when the heaven is rent asunder, 9 When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust; 10 And when the time comes for raising the little girls (buried alive) -- 11 For what Day are these signs postponed? 12 For the Day of Judgement. 13 Would that you knew about the Day of Judgment! 14 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 15 Did We not destroy the ancient people 16 And We shall cause those of later times to follow them. 17 Thus deal We ever with the guilty. 18 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 19 Did We not create you from a weak water, 20 which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping 21 for an appointed time? 22 So We did measure, and We are the Best to measure (the things). 23 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 24 Have We not made the earth a housing 25 For the living and the dead. 26 And placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein? 27 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 28 Depart to that which you belied! 29 Go on towards the threefold shadow 30 Neither shady nor protecting against the blazing Fire. 31 Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles, 32 which seem as though they are yellow-coloured camels. 33 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 34 This is a Day they will not speak, 35 nor be allowed to proffer excuses! 36 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together. 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 40
