The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the pages are made public 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
