۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 This is certainly the greatest triumph 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
