Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days – so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 in an exalted garden 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 I am bereft of power." 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
