He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 to a rich man, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
