And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
