The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virginal, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
