The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 arise, and warn! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 purify your garments; 4 stay away from sins 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
