The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 by the night swarming, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
