The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 But save him who fears 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
