▼ 15 The Hijjr Valley
Al-Hijjr 3 of 6
Indeed We created man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud. 26 and the jinn We had created before from flaming fire. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration." 29 So, the angels - all of them - fell down in prostration, 30 Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated. 31 Said He: "O Iblis! What is thy reason for not being among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!" 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 Satan said, "O my Lord! Grant me respite till the Day of Resurrection." 36 The Lord said, "Your request is granted 37 Until the Day of the time well-known." 38 "O my Lord," he said, "since You have led me into error I'll beguile them with the pleasures of the world and lead them astray, 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 [Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight. 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 And indeed hell is the promise for all of them. 43 There are seven gates in it, and to each gate a portion of them has been allotted. 44

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
