Thamud (people) belied the Messenger. 141 Behold, their brother Salih said to them: "Will you not fear (Allah)? 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 so fear you God, and obey you me.' 144 And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds: 145 "Will you be left secure in that which you have here? 146 amidst gardens and fountains, 147 farms, and palm-trees in thick groves, 148 Though ye hew out dwellings in the mountain, being skilful? 149 So fear God and obey me: 150 "And follow not the command of Al-Musrifun [i.e. their chiefs, leaders who were polytheists, criminals and sinners], 151 who do corruption in the earth, and set not things aright.' 152 They said, “You are under a magic spell.” 153 You are only a human being like ourselves. Show us a sign, if you are telling the truth." 154 He said: yonder is a she-camel; to her a drink, and to you a drink, each on a day known. 155 Do not cause her to suffer lest you become subject to the torment of the great day (of Judgment)." 156 They slew the she-camel, but later became regretful 157 So the punishment overtook them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 158 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 159
