Now, behold, this [divine writ] has indeed been bestowed from on high by the Sustainer of all the worlds: 192 Which the trusted spirit descended with 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 Surely, it is foretold in the ancient scriptures. 196 Was it not a proof for them that the learned men of Israel knew about this? 197 But [even] had We bestowed it from on high upon any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had read it unto them, even then they would not have been believers therein. 199 Thus have We caused this [message] to pass [unheeded] through the hearts of those who are lost in sin: 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 They will therefore say, "Will we get some respite?" 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Just think: If We let them enjoy the good things of life for a few years more, 205 and thereupon that [chastisement] which they were promised befalls them 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 We never destroyed a village that did not have warners 208 to admonish them. We have never been unjust. 209 And it is not the Shayatin (devils) who have brought it (this Quran) down, 210 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). 211 Indeed they are debarred from even hearing it. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 And warn your tribe (O Muhammad SAW) of near kindred. 214 And take those believers under your wing who follow you. 215 But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do. 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who sees you when you stand up. 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 220 Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend? 221 They descend upon every lying, sinful one, 222 who readily lend ear [to every falsehood,] and most of whom lie to others as well. 223 And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them. 224 Do you not see that in every valley they roam 225 And that they say that which they do not? 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
