And assuredly Nuh cried unto us; and We are the Best of answerers! 75 And We delivered him and his followers from the mighty distress. 76 and We made his offspring the only survivors. 77 And left for him among the later folk (the salutation): 78 Peace be upon Noah among all the nations. 79 Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 80 for he was truly one of our believing servants: 81 Then We did drown the others. 82 ۞ AND, BEHOLD, of his persuasion was Abraham, too, 83 When he came to his Lord with a heart compliant, 84 and said to his father and his people: “Whom do you worship? 85 Do you want to worship false idols as your lords besides God? 86 What do you think of the Lord of the whole Universe?” 87 Then he glanced a glance on the stars. 88 And said: "I am sick (of what you worship)!" 89 All the people turned away from him 90 and he turned to their idols and asked them, "Do you eat? 91 What aileth you that ye speak not? 92 He then began striking them with his right hand, unseen by the people. 93 [But] then the others came towards him hurriedly [and accused him of his deed]. 94 He said: "Worship you that which you (yourselves) carve? 95 the while it is God who has created you and all your handiwork?" 96 They said: "Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!" 97 And they intended for him a plan, but We made them the most debased. 98 And he said: verily I am going to my Lord who will guide me. 99 My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous." 100 So We gave him the good news of a boy, possessing forbearance. 101 And when he became capable of working with him, Ibrahim said, “O my son, I dreamt that I am sacrificing you – therefore now consider what is your opinion”; he said, “O my father! Do what you are commanded! Allah willing, you will soon find me patiently enduring!” 102 Then, when they had both surrendered (to Allah), and he had flung him down upon his face, 103 We cried out: “O Abraham, 104 Of a surety thou hast fulfilled the vision. Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 105 For this was obviously a trial- 106 And We ransomed him with a mighty sacrifice, 107 And We left for him among the later folk (the salutation): 108 "Peace be upon Abraham!" 109 Thus do We reward the good-doers. 110 Surely he was one of Our believing servants. 111 And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishaq, a Herald of the Hidden, from among those who deserve Our proximity. 112 and blessed him and Isaac too: some of their offspring were good, but some clearly sinned against their souls. 113
