Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 and what is the Resurrection Verifier? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 In a high garden 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 nor any food save the filth 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
