Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection]. 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine, 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are joined together, 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 By no means! there shall be no place of refuge! 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 Even though he were to put up his excuses. 15 Do not forestall (the revelation before its completion) by acting in haste. 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you, 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 gazing upon their Lord; 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 believing that a crushing calamity is about to strike them. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30
