He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 olives, dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
