Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
