Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by this city. 1 and you are dwelling in this city -- 2 And [by] the father and that which was born [of him], 3 We verily have created man in an atmosphere: 4 Does man think that no one will ever have power over him? 5 He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 But he hath not attempted the Ascent - 11 And what have you understood, what the valley is! 12 (It is) the setting free of a slave, 13 or, in a day of famine, the feeding of 14 to an orphan near of kin; 15 Or a poor man cleaving to the dust. 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 Those are the companions of the right. 18 As for those who disbelieve in Our revelations, they are the people of the left 19 who will be engulfed in the fire. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
