The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 And the House frequented, 4 and the uplifted roof 5 and the sea that is full 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
