The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
99 verses, revealed in Mecca after Joseph (Yousuf) before Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Ra. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. These are the Verses of the Book, and a plain Quran. 1 Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam Islamic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise]. 2 (Muhammad), leave them alone to eat and enjoy themselves and let their desires deceive them; they will soon know (the Truth). 3 We never destroyed any town without pre-ordaining the fate of its people. 4 No people can hasten or delay the term already fixed for them. 5 And they say: O thou unto whom the Reminder is revealed, lo! thou art indeed a madman! 6 Why bringest thou not angels unto us if thou art of the truthtellers! 7 [Yet] We never send down angels otherwise than in accordance with the [demands of] truth; and [were the angels to appear now,] lo! they [who reject this divine writ] would have no further respite! 8 It is We who sent down the Koran, and We watch over it. 9 We had also sent apostles to people of earlier persuasions. 10 And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him. 11 This is how We make the mocking* enter the hearts of the guilty. (* The acts of disbelief.) 12 they do not believe in it. This has been the wont of people of this kind from ancient times. 13 If We were even to open for them a way to the heavens, and they could continually climb up to it in broad daylight, 14 They would surely say: intoxicated have been our sights; aye! we are a people enchanted. 15

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
