The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And it is no joke. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
