Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a high Garden. 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
