(The tribe of) A’ad denied the Noble Messengers. 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 He has given you flocks and sons, 133 and with gardens and springs. 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 this is nothing but a habit of the ancients: 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
