And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
